Cane Corsos are amazing dogs - strong, intelligent, proud, sensitive and full of empathy. They are as the great guardians with a well-developed territorial instinct, as fantastic loving pets. They love to be cuddled, spending time with their family, adjusting to their rhythm and activity.

They are gentle and patient towards children, raised with other animals they live in harmony and accept them without any problem. With the dogs of the same sex are sometimes conflicting, although it is not the rule and much depends on the individual characteristics. They suffer being alone, they need much attention and still want to be close to the family.

Cane corsos need a wise owner who guides them according to their gentle molossoid personality and to be consequent as well. There is no problem to teach them the basic obedience commands, cane corsos are also good as the working dogs. On the walks do not move away from the owners, but their well-developed hunting drive often causes chasing the wild animals. In puppyhood they may be troublemakers, destroying the garden, digging holes, biting the plants and trees. With time destructive inclinations are passing, and even at a mature age cane corsos remain active and love crazy fun.

Cane corsos are robust and rather healthy. As the breed is dedicated to guard farm and animals, as they expected from them strength, alertness and good health. Due to size and weight, cane corsos are prone to the joints diseases - hips and elbows dysplasia and osteochondrosis. According to vet orthopedics authorities for dysplasia genes are responsible in 30% (inheritance polygenic), and the rest is the result of environmental factors - proper nutrition, supplementation, avoiding slippery surfaces, limiting movement in the period of intensive growth, especially jumping, long distance walks. Cane corsos may have a problem with cherry eye, sometimes happens entropion, ectropion.

Cane corsos usually have excellent appetite and are very greedy. The food should be high quality, especially in the period of intensive development and growth. The dog properly fed has a thick, shiny coat, is healthy, and has a lot of energy. More about how I feed my dogs you can read in BARF section.

In Poland the status of stud dog or breeding female for the dogs must be according to the Polish Kennel Club (under FCI) regulations. The first is the rate of the exterior, evaluated by judges on the dog shows. The second - mental tests passed, judged by the working trial judge. The third element eligible for the breeding qualification is the result of hips dysplasia, confirmed in the pedigree document by a qualified orthopedist. Only after fulfilling all these requirements, male or female can be qualified for breeding.
